NHS Health Checks

NHS Health Checks for 40 to 74 year old patients

If you are between 40 and 74 you are eligible for a health check unless any of the following apply to you:

  • Are taking Blood Pressure or Cholesterol tablets
  • Have Diabetes
  • Have suffered a Stroke  
  • Have suffered a Heart Attack
  • Are diagnosed with Coronary Heart Disease or Heart Failure
  • Are diagnosed with Peripheral Arterial Disease
  • Are diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease
  • Are diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation
  • Have had a NHS Health Check in the last 5 years

Patients between 75 and 84 years of age are entitled to a health check

This service is NOT available for patients who have a current diagnosis of the following:

  • CHD (Chronic Heart Disease)
  • Stroke/TIA
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Failure
  • Chronic Kidney Disease (stages 3-5)
  • Palliative Care
  • Peripheral Vascular Disease/PAD
  • Familial Hyperlipidaemia
  • Patients who have had a NHS Health Check within the last 5 years
  • Patients who have had a Senior Health Check in the last 2 years
