The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from.
What does this mean for you?
If you collect your repeat prescriptions from your GP you will not have to visit your GP practice to pick up your paper prescription. Instead, your GP will send it electronically to the place you choose, saving you time
You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop;
You may not have to wait as long at the pharmacy as there will be time for your repeat prescriptions to be ready before you arrive.
Is this service right for you?
Yes, if you have a stable condition and you:
- don’t want to go to your GP practice every time to collect your repeat prescription
- or you collect your medicines from the same place most of the time or use a prescription collection service now
It may not be if you:
- don’t get prescriptions very often
- pick up your medicines from different places
For full information on this service please read our EPS Information Sheet
WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR MEDICATION DELIVERED TO YOUR HOME FOR FREE?
The dispensary is now offering a medication delivery service for housebound dispensing patients on repeat medication. If you have your medication dispensed by the surgery dispensary and would like us to deliver it to you at no cost, then please speak to a member of the dispensary team.
Repeat Prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions will be issued, normally, for patients on long-term treatment, albeit regular reviews are undertaken. Requests for repeat prescriptions should be left in one of the 'repeat prescription boxes' provided. Please use the repeat slip attached to your last prescription whenever possible.
Alternatively, repeat prescriptions can be requested ONLINE by anyone aged 18 or over.
Repeat prescriptions cannot be requested by telephone.
Please allow at least 2 full working days before collection.
It is our policy, and that of the Government, to issue one month's supply of drugs at a time. We dispense medicines to those patients entitled, that is those who live more than one mile from a chemist.
You will need a username and password to request a repeat prescription online. If you have not already been issued these for online appointment booking purposes then please bring in a form of photo identification to obtain your username and password from reception or dispensary.
Parents/guardians cannot obtain the username and password for their children. This service is available for those aged 18 and over only.
Dispensing Review of the Use of Medicines (DRUM)
The dispensary is now able to conduct a confidential face to face review of any of our dispensing patients medication. This will include: drug interactions, potential side effects, inhaler technique and also any problems that the patient may be experiencing. Please ask the dispensary for more information in regards to DRUMs.
